Channel Islands – APC Additional Information Required

Further to communication sent out in January 2021, when we advised that services to the Channel Islands were being reviewed following the Brexit announcements and HMRC additional requirements, we can confirm that we have implemented changes to the New Horizon booking platform.

Please ensure that you are familiar with the additional information requirements for delivery exports to The Channel Islands: –

  • Value of goods – must be provided.
  • Description of goods – must be provided.
  • Commodity Codes – must be provided.
  • EORI Number – must be provided.
  • Country of Origin – if not UK must be provided.
  • The Senders information – stating the sending depot as the “Sender” is not sufficient, the actual Senders information must be provided.
  • Invoices should be affixed to all consignments in case of customs checks and to avoid delays.
  • If a consignment contains 100% documents, then “Documents” must be entered for both the “Description of goods” requirement and the Commodity Code requirement.
  • The additional information above must be provided for each item within a multi-part consignment.

Please ensure that the correct information is supplied to avoid unnecessary work and delays to your shipments. Full information must be completed on New Horizon for every consignment travelling to this area.

Failure to provide ALL of the required information will result in consignments being returned to the shipper and a £5 charge applied.

We are continuing to review the service to The Channel Islands and will update again in due course.

Pallet Track – Reminder – Thermal Labels and Positioning

A communication was distributed 26th February 2021 reiterating the operational significance of label location on every pallet and use of Thermal Labels on all pallets sent via Pallet-Track. The communication has had little impact; therefore, a Label Audit was recently administered by the Hub(S) and information sent back to each depot in relation to customers not adhering to the procedures.

Thermal labels must be used for all freight manifested and despatched via Pallet-Track. It is imperative labels are positioned correctly to aid the scanning process. Some labels have been found to be too small, printed incorrectly or positioned too high on the pallet causing unnecessary issues for delivery members when scanning.

• Thermal labels must be printed from the Vigo TMS booking portal.
• The number of labels produced must equal the total number of pallets on the consignment.
• One label must be affixed to the flat surface of each pallet in the middle and as close to the pallet base as possible. See the below example.

• Drums or kegs of liquid – One label must be affixed to the cylindrical side of each pallet in the middle and as close to the pallet base as possible
• Irregular shaped consignments – One label must be affixed to an area of the pallet that is clearly visible in the middle and as close to the pallet base as possible

Please ensure all requirements are adopted immediately, failure to do so may lead to pallets being held by the hub and delays.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

The APC API and data plug are still work in progress. So for the time being when sending consignments to Northern Ireland they must be done through the web portal.

APC – Deliveries To Eire & Northern Ireland Service Changes

Changes to Eire Service (Southern Ireland)

From 1st January 2020, all shipments to and from Eire will be subject to customs and excise protocols. Given those additional customs and excise requirements, APC have reviewed whether we they continue to offer a service to Eire within their Domestic service framework. APC have concluded that this is not practical and therefore they will now treat services to Eire as an international destination, and therefore a non – APC service from 1st January 2021.

Courier Logistics are working to set up an alternative option for our Customers to ship consignments to and from Eire. All existing pricing and booking procedures with APC will be removed and not available. We are in the final stages of setting up the alternative option for Eire shipments, should you wish to enquire about the pricing specifically for this service please email sales@courierlogsitcs.co.uk where we will respond accordingly once we have the full information available.

Deliveries To Northern Ireland Preparation Whilst we still await to hear whether we have a deal on our relationship with Europe, it is still very likely that customers shipping to Northern Ireland will be required to include further information on their consignments.

It’s therefore worth prompting action and getting Brexit ready.

The Government has a handy website it is worth pointing customers towards: – https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/moving-goods-into-out-of-or-through-northern-ireland-from-1-january-2021

Considerations: –   May need to apply to be set up as “authorised” under the UK Trader scheme. May need an EORI number that starts with XI (They can apply via the HMRC site – see attached pdf). If the consignment is B2B, the recipient EORI number may be required. May need to get assistance from a provider of customs support if not using Trader Support Service. Customers will need to find the right Commodity Codes for the goods being sent. Further information can be found at https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff. Full descriptions of goods (to item level) being sent may be required. Value of goods (detailed at item level) is likely to be needed. Country of origin (This is not the same as country being sent from).
New Horizon will be ready to capture the additional information that may be required.

As soon as we are fully aware of the actual requirements, we will communicate again.

A local under 11’s grassroots team made up of just 10 boys which Courier Logistics are proud to sponsor.

Shout out to this fantastic group of young people.

A local under 11’s grassroots team made up of just 10 boys which Courier Logistics are proud to sponsor.

After hearing about Marcus Rashford campaigning for families to be provided with meals or food vouchers over the school holidays, the team decided they wanted to help those struggling in the local community. When they heard about The Link making emergency food parcels for Christmas they decided this would be a great cause to get behind.

Well done to all of you, your families must be mega proud of you as will everyone in the community.

You’re truly amazing 🤩
