Derek Mann who joined the company back in 1996 has clocked up around 1.5 million miles around the roads of Britain (equivalent of nearly 7 trips to the moon or 60 times around the globe).
Managing director – Nick Cusworth, presented Derek with some well earned holiday vouchers and thanked him for his impeccable service over the last 16 years.Click for More
After reminiscing back over the years, Derek shared some of his experiences including last minute race against time deliveries to various events up and down the country. Most memorable included delivery of vital equipment for the tea in the park music festival in Edinburgh which would have delayed the show had he not made it on time and likewise the delivery of the football shirt belonging to Sheffield United defender Rob Kozluk who needed it for the F A Cup 3pm kick off at Southampton. Derek recalls, ‘I got the call around 10.30 on the Saturday morning and arrived at Bramall Lane to find them still ironing the shirt and fixing the players name on the back. After a four hour journey, I arrived with just minutes to spare and a very relieved looking ‘United’ club official’.
The sameday operators who have relied on Derek’s Courier services so much over the years pleaded with him to reveal his new mobile number just in case there might be one more desperate job to cover – Derek being Derek is still considering!
Derek now intends to spend more time with his Grandchildren as well as walking and caravanning around Flamborough.
