On Friday 24th May, several members of Courier Logistics staff attended the prestigious awards ceremony, Young Achievers 2013, hosted by Garnett Dickinson and the Rotherham Advertiser. We were there to support our very worthy nominees, Hannah Herrington, Matt Leng and Adam Smith who have all come to us through an apprenticeship programme and have overcome issues and gone the extra mile to become valuable members of our customer service team.

The event was held at Rotherham’s Magna Centre where we all enjoyed lively entertainment from some up and coming talented local musicians, including a girl band called Armonia, who got us all rocking with their rendition of Proud Mary. Not sure though how many of the youngsters remember that one! A two course dinner followed, washed down with several glasses of a nice white and plenty of beer too.

Also taking to the stage for the presentation ceremony was our very own Ashleigh Porter-Exley, winner of Young Apprentice 2012. Ashleigh’s co presenter for night was Tom, and they both kept the audience amused with their presentation skills, although in Ashleigh’s case there was plenty of ad-libbing!

All of the nominees were invited on stage to be presented with a goody bag and Hannah, Matt and Adam made their way up with a certain amount of trepidation at being on display to the crowd. Then came the big moment, crowning the winners! Listening to the achievements of the winners and their inspirational stories was quite emotional, but unfortunately none of our young achievers were to win their categories.

But a good night was had by all, photos to prove it, and lots of offers to buy the negatives! We all went away proud of all that our younger members of staff have achieved, they are all winners in our eyes.
